AcademyHealth proudly announces the launch of its new Champions for Health Services and Prevention Research program. This program, supported by the Doris Duke Foundation, aims to foster critical connections between researchers and policymakers in local communities throughout the United States.
This initiative is fundamentally grounded in trust and communication. Through this program, 21 selected Research Champions will embark on a 15-month journey where they will refine their policy and communication skills to serve as messengers for evidence-based decision making in health and health care. Equipped with enhanced skills, these champions are set to become pivotal voices in translating scientific data into actionable insights for policymakers, with an emphasis on using research to inform health care policies that are attuned to the unique needs of their communities.
The program kicks off with a comprehensive online training course. Following this, the champions will conduct targeted outreach with federal and state policymakers in their local communities, ensuring their messages are heard precisely where it matters most.
As this cohort of Research Champions lays the groundwork for this transformative program, we look forward to the positive changes they will bring to health policy. Learn more about the champions here.
