Patient and consumer engagement in health and health care is increasingly seen as a vital to the research process, and to improving the performance of the health care system. Since 2012, AcademyHealth has worked with the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute on a variety of initiatives.
Managed by AcademyHealth, this learning network facilitates peer-to-peer learning and dialogue among researchers working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid’s T-MSIS Analytic Files.
With funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, AcademyHealth, in collaboration with Innovations Horizons, is supporting pilot projects and work groups to help understand the potential of and challenges to using internet data to facilitate timely, accurate diagnosis and treatment.
The HSRProj (Health Services Research Projects) in Progress database contains descriptions on more than 13,000 ongoing and recently completed health services research projects funded by government and state agencies, foundations, universities, private organizations, and international organizations.
In February 2025 AcademyHealth launched regular updates to provide clarity and insight for the field during a period of rapid change at the federal level. In addition to published updates, AcademyHealth began hosting members-only, virtual town halls with President and CEO, Aaron Carroll, and Director of Advocacy, Josh Caplan. Town halls will provide a chance to engage with AcademyHealth leadership, ask questions, and connect with fellow members.
