Bikki Tran Smith, MA, MSW, is currently a doctoral candidate in her final year at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. Her broad research interest explores the intersection of race, place, health and health policy. Her research agenda centers on ameliorating racial/ethnic disparities in primary and behavioral health with a long-term goal of advancing knowledge about the effects of socio-spatial factors on health policy and health services implementation so as to develop theoretically-grounded and empirically supported place-based interventions to improve access to health care. She has over 10 years of combined experience in research and practice with vulnerable populations in the areas of mental health, housing, homelessness, disabilities, education, technology in the classroom and health policy.

In 2019, Ms. Tran Smith was awarded the Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship to attend the AcademyHealth National Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.
