Dr. Tamkeen Khan is a Senior Economist for the American Medical Association's 'Improving Health Outcomes' strategic focus area. Dr. Khan's research focuses on the economics of chronic disease prevention, with specific interests in cardiovascular disease (hypertension and diabetes), obesity, and tobacco control. Her work over the past decade has helped the AMA establish a strong evidence base for their nationwide efforts in demonstrating a credible impact on cardiovascular disease prevention.  In addition to publishing her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals, she has presented at various professional organizations and translated her findings into online tools and calculators.

Dr. Khan holds PhD in Economics (specializing in Health and Labor) from the University of Illinois at Chicago, the same university where received her MA in Economics and a Certificate in the Teaching of Economics.
