Dr. Sandra Mitchell is Senior Scientist and a Program Director in the Outcomes Research Branch in the Healthcare Delivery Research Program at the National Cancer Institute. She leads efforts to address symptom burden and functional impairment during and following cancer treatment, and to validate new measures of symptoms and functional status in both children and adults. She has a particular interest in the development of symptom management interventions to improve outcomes for vulnerable, frail, and older adult populations, novel trial designs, and implementation research. Her methodologic interests include longitudinal modeling, psychometrics, and the design and analysis of group-randomized treatment trials for healthcare delivery research. Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with expertise in the delivery of survivorship care following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
