Dr. Wen-Ying Sylvia Chou a Program Director in the Health Communication and Informatics Research Branch of the Behavioral Research Program at the National Cancer Institute. A prolific health communication scholar with over 100 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Chou has led NIH funding initiatives on the impact of the evolving communication landscape on public health and cancer control. Trained in sociolinguists and mixed methods, her research areas include patient-provider interactions, end-of-life communication, and social media and health. Dr. Chou’s current research centers on understanding and addressing the spread of health misinformation and fostering relationship-centered communication. She has served as an editor for American Journal of Public Health 2020 theme issue on misinformation and leading funding opportunities and research projects. Dr. Chou holds MS and PhD degrees in Linguistics from Georgetown University, an MPH from UC Berkeley and completed a postdoctoral Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program at the NCI.
