The AcademyHealth Health Equity and Women and Gender Interest Groups are excited to announce a new webinar series aimed at advancing the field of health equity. This series will disseminate innovative research, share best practices for conducting impactful community-focused studies, and highlight diverse career pathways within health equity. 

Attendees can expect a rich array of important topics, engaging speakers with varied backgrounds, and valuable insights designed to enhance awareness and build the essential skill sets needed for impactful health equity research.

Supported by the Commonwealth Fund, a national, private foundation based in New York City that supports independent research on health care issues and makes grants to improve health care practice and policy. This webinar will provide a safe space for discussion on cannabis use and equitable access as a means to promote health equity. Co-led by Dr. Denise Vidot, a cannabis epidemiologist, and Weslye Saunders, an NFL athlete and mental health advocate.

AcademyHealth’s Health Equity Interest Group and Women and Gender Interest Group, with support from the Commonwealth Fund, welcome nominations to advance critical conversation around health equity. This series will disseminate innovative research, share best practices for conducting impactful community-focused studies, and highlight diverse career pathways within health equity. Each webinar will include an academic and community partner. 

 We seek nominations from health equity scholars in collaboration with community partners advancing community-engaged health equity research aiming to improve the health of historically marginalized populations. Our main considerations include: 

 Equity focused research that goes beyond a health disparities framework

  1. Representation from community partners and voices in the research and webinar
  2. Rigorous and appropriate scientific methods for type of research being studied
