Coalition Workstreams

We have organized our work into four coordinated workstreams which drive the coalition’s action and progress. Each workstream focuses on a key area barrier to consistent and sustainable biomarker testing uptake and adoption. Working alongside one another, each workstream engages coalition members in strategic activities that advance both workstream-specific objectives and broader coalition goals. 

  • WS1. Diagnostic Policy & Sustainable Reimbursement aligns insurance coverage and payment policies to make guideline-recommended biomarker testing a standard, reimbursed requirement for complete cancer diagnosis.
  • WS2. Unified Data Ecosystem & FAIR Architecture builds integrated data systems that make biomarker testing information easily accessible and usable across all cancer care settings while reducing administrative burden.
  • WS3. Clinical Integration & Decision Support Systems streamlines clinical workflows to embed biomarker testing seamlessly into routine cancer care through coordinated protocols and decision support tools.
  • WS4. Precision Medicine Equity & Partner Empowerment ensures biomarker test results are available for initial treatment decisions while providing patients and providers, especially in underserved communities, with the knowledge and tools to effectively use these results.

New Roadmap for Collective Action Presents Framework for Bringing Cancer Biomarker Testing to National Scale

AcademyHealth's Scaling Cancer Biomarker Testing Coalition aims to transform cancer care in the US by bringing together stakeholders across the cancer care ecosystem to make personalized cancer biomarker testing a standard, covered part of care for all patients. The roadmap outlines how the coalition will address systems-level challenges to achieve this goal through collective action.
