Geronimo Bejarano is an M.P.H. student at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) and an incoming PhD student in Health Services Research at Brown University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida. He has worked as a research consultant for Duke University, Value Institute of Health and Care, SpineIQ, and UTHealth.
Geronimo was born in Colombia and immigrated to the United States where he spent 12 years as an undocumented immigrant. This personal experience along with being a first-generation college graduate has shaped his research interests which center around improving the health of racialized and minoritized people within the Medicare population. His current work focuses on the impact of private equity acquisitions of healthcare on patients’ health and financial outcomes.
Geronimo is a recipient of a 2023 AcademyHealth Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship for the Annual Research Meeting.
