Acting Director, Division of Healthcare Delivery Data, Measures, and Research, Center for Delivery, Organization, and Markets, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
Ms. Schnaier is the Acting Director of the Healthcare Delivery Data, Measures, and Research Division in AHRQ’s Center for Delivery, Organization, and Markets. In this role, she leads the division’s development, production, and improvement of data and tools for use in research, policy analysis, and quality improvement, with a particular focus on two interrelated AHRQ programs: the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) and the AHRQ Quality Indicators. Ms. Schnaier also leads and oversees a multidisciplinary team to improve and implement HCUP, a national initiative to collect, standardize, improve, and disseminate all-payer, population-based healthcare encounter databases for research, policy analysis, and to improve health care quality, cost, and access.
Prior to joining AHRQ, Ms. Schnaier spent 11 years as a Health Services and Policy Researcher at Research Triangle Institute (RTI), an independent nonprofit organization performing research in many disciplines for government and commercial clients. She has written articles for such journals as Medical Care and Health Care Financing Review. She has also written chapters in two books dealing with women veterans and mental health.
Ms. Schnaier received her B.A. degree from Rutgers University in psychology and English, and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland, and has studied health care policy through graduate-level coursework from the School of Hygiene and Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. She was also a Senior Fellow in the Excellence in Government Fellows Program, a results-based leadership development program sponsored by the Partnership for Public Service.
