Maria Steenland is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University’s Population Studies and Training Center. Her research uses novel econometric methods for causal inference to identify the effect of health and social policies. The overarching goal of her research is to identify policy options to increase the equity and quality of women’s health services. Her previous research has examined the effect of Medicaid payment policies for immediate postpartum contraception. She is currently continuing her policy research on postpartum contraception payments as well as initiating research to investigate policy drivers of postpartum care.
