Dr. Sara McMenamin is an assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine’s Department of Family Medicine and Public Health. Dr. McMenamin is a health policy researcher with a focus on health insurance coverage for tobacco dependence treatments and other preventive health services at the state level. Her research has focused extensively on treating tobacco dependence through health insurance coverage both in the private and public insurance markets including the impact of the Affordable Care Act on treating tobacco use and dependence in Medicaid programs. Dr. McMenamin currently serves as a Vice Chair for the California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP). This UC-wide effort administered by the University of California Office of the President provides analyses of health insurance-related legislation to the California state legislature.
