Sharmily Roy is a doctoral candidate in the Management, Policy and Community Health department in the Health Economics/Health Services Research track. She is a cost analyst as part of an evaluation team for an ARPA funded mental health promotion and prevention initiative implemented at Harris County, Texas. She is keenly interested in further applying her research and evaluation skills to addressing issues of health equity and improving access and quality in health prevention and healthcare delivery. Prior to returning to school to pursue her doctoral degree, Sharmily worked in public health in state, local and global programs for over 20 years supporting surveillance data quality improvement efforts, dissemination and implementation of guidelines, process improvement, and workforce capacity building. She would like to gain more experience in research related to value based care and applying multi-level modeling and mixed methods to better address issues of health equity and justice.
