Sujay Mehta is a consultant in oral presentations of systemic illness and orofacial pain. He is currently Director of Global Health Education at Solidarity Dental Foundation. Sujay attended John Muir College at the University of California at San Diego graduating with a degree in history. He earned a DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Postdoctoral training included resident programs in Hospital Dentistry at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where he was Chief Resident as well as a residency through UCLA’s Department of Oral Medicine & Orofacial Pain. He earned an MPH from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

He is currently chair of the Oral Health Interest Group with Academy Health and Co-Chair of the Scientific Program for the American Public Health Association’s Oral Health Section. He is a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar and recognized as a fellow with the American Dental Education Association Emerging Leaders program and the American Institute of Dental Public Health Leadership Academy.

Sujay has been a guest on the podcast "Public Health On Call”. He has hosted and organized symposia on oral health at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He has presented abstracts and talks at the Canadian Pain Society, International Headache Society, European Headache and Migraine Trust, the International Association for the Study of Pain, American Academies of Oral Medicine and Orofacial Pain, Academy Health, American Public Health Association, and the National Oral Health Conference.

In addition to patient care focused on oral medicine and orofacial pain, he has lectured for students in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and public health as well as dental and medical residents. He has organized and participated in continuing professional development seminars and symposia for oral health professionals, medical, public health and legal audiences. Sujay has provided expert witness testimony related to traumatic injuries and consulted in personal injury, domestic violence, assault and workplace injuries involving the maxillofacial region.
