Delivery of Patient Centered Care in the U.S. Health Care System: What is standing in its way?

Several initiatives explore how to make the health care system more patient centered, but efforts remain a work in progress. Under the Optimizing Value in Health Care program, AcademyHealth recently convened experts representing patient, provider, payer, policy, and research stakeholders’ perspectives on the barriers to patient centered care.
