Luca Borah is an M.D.-M.P.H. student at the University of Michigan. Luca is dedicated to advancing equity for marginalized populations, with a focus on transgender and nonbinary health. Luca has conducted research on the impact of state and federal policies on healthcare access, disparities in surgical and cancer care, and workforce diversity and inclusion. Their work has been published in JAMA, Annals of Surgery, and Academic Medicine.

Prior to medical school, Luca worked in health policy as staffer to the CEO of Epic health records and served in AmeriCorps. They graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College and completed the post-bac premedical program at Bryn Mawr College. Luca plans to pursue General Surgery, with the goal of combining surgical care and health services research.

Luca is a recipient of a 2024 AcademyHealth Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship for the Annual Research Meeting.
