Nathaniel M. Tran, B.A. is a doctoral student in the Department of Health Policy and research associate in the LGBTQ+ Policy Lab at Vanderbilt University. Their research aims to understand and address health inequities among LGBTQ+ populations across the life course. Their contributions have examined exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences and violence victimization, variation in social and medical steps taken to establish gender congruence, and the protective role of non-discrimination policies in the places that sexual and gender minority people live, work, age, and play. At Vanderbilt, they have partnered with local newspapers, health organizations, and legal advocacy groups to translate public health research into actionable insights in Tennessee.
Prior to joining Vanderbilt, they worked for 5 years in community health programming and research with teams at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Tufts University School of Medicine. They hold a B.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Tufts University and were a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Buenos Aires.
