Building Healthy Communities

In partnership with NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC), AcademyHealth supports this PCORI-funded project to build the capacity and foster the sustainability of patient and/or community-led organizations whose primary purpose is to enable research that is a priority to their communities.

AcademyHealth manages the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Engaging Businesses for Health project, which awarded eight research studies in 2017 to build the evidence base for how private-sector investment can help build a Culture of Health—promoting greater well-being and health equity for all.

With support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, AcademyHealth led the Payment Reform for Population Health initiative to examine the opportunities through which the payment system can support population health.

AcademyHealth's Evidence-Informed State Health Policy Institute, as the Administrative Coordinating Center for the Medicaid Outcomes Distributed Research Network, supports the University of Pittsburgh and 11 additional state-university research teams to develop opioid use disorder (OUD) quality measures that can be constructed at the provider level, incorporate patient experience, and center health equity.

AcademyHealth, funded by Kaiser Permanente, is engaging leaders in public health research and practice on a priority-setting initiative to define a research agenda for the evidence needed for a reimagined public health system.

This series is produced by AcademyHealth as part of its commitment to evidence-informed health policy.

With support from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation, AcademyHealth’s Evidence-Informed State Health Policy Institute in collaboration with the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill is assessing syphilis testing among pregnant Medicaid beneficiaries as well as rates of STI testing of state Medicaid beneficiaries on PrEP.

AcademyHealth, in partnership with Econometrica and Family Voices, convenes leading voices to generate a national research agenda to build the evidence needed to optimize school-based mental health services for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). This project is funded through the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award, an initiative of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®) (#EASCS-38921).
