    Overview:

    The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the nation's leading funder of patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER), is dedicated to producing and promoting high-quality, evidence-based information derived from research guided by patients, caregivers and the broader healthcare community. With over $4.5 billion awarded to more than 2,400 research and research-related projects, PCORI's funding spans critical areas such as maternal mortality, cancer, diabetes, rare diseases and more.

    During this session, attendees will gain valuable insights into PCORI's research funding opportunities. The presentation will cover the research funding lifecycle, strategies for crafting successful applications and PCORI's unique engagement requirements. The event will also feature a networking breakfast, a Q&A session and the chance for one-on-one conversations with PCORI staff, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with experts and fellow researchers.

    Goals of the workshop:

    • Present PCORI’s National Priorities for Health and Topic Themes.
    • Provide an overview of funding opportunities that advance these National Priorities.
    • Share key examples of trials with results from PCORI's research award portfolio, highlighting research questions, decisional dilemmas and patient engagement.
    • Discuss advancements in PCORI’s Foundational Expectations for Partnerships in Research and Science of Engagement.
    • Review PCORI’s investments in infrastructure (PCORnet) that enables national-level CER and illustrate how it can be leveraged in a PCORI Research Award.
    • Describe how PCORI supports applicants and awardees throughout the application and award processes, from Letter of Intent submission through to the post-award phase.
