AcademyHealth programs are led by our expert staff, supported by funding from a variety of partners, and all aimed at improving health and the health system. An alphabetical list of both past and current activities is below. Efforts include learning, translation and dissemination, technical assistance, professional services, as well as stakeholder engagement and community building.

An initiative of AcademyHealth’s Innovation Adoption Center, the Scaling Cancer Biomarker Testing Coalition brings together stakeholders across the cancer care ecosystem to advance a shared vision: making personalized cancer biomarker testing a standard, covered part of care for all patients.

Situation Reports & Virtual Events

In February 2025 AcademyHealth launched regular updates to provide clarity and insight for the field during a period of rapid change at the federal level. In addition to published updates, AcademyHealth began hosting members-only, virtual town halls with President and CEO, Aaron Carroll, and Director of Advocacy, Josh Caplan. Town halls will provide a chance to engage with AcademyHealth leadership, ask questions, and connect with fellow members.

The Role of Homelessness and Supportive Housing in Health Care Disparities among Adults in Medicaid

With support from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), Rutgers University and the University of Pittsburgh, in collaboration with AcademyHealth, aim to examine the potential of permanent supportive housing programs to mitigate health disparities among Medicaid enrollees experiencing homelessness.

Thriving in School: A CYSHCN-Driven Roadmap for High Impact School-Based Mental Health Comparative Effectiveness Research

AcademyHealth, in partnership with Econometrica and Family Voices, convenes leading voices to generate a national research agenda to build the evidence needed to optimize school-based mental health services for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). This project is funded through the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award, an initiative of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®) (#EASCS-38921).

Translation and Dissemination Institute

​AcademyHealth’s Translation and Dissemination Institute helps the field of health services research move its findings more effectively into policy and practice. It undertakes activities that enable research producers to better understand the needs of research users, helps place research in context, and serves as an incubator for new and innovative approaches to moving knowledge into action.
