Dr. Margo Edmunds is Vice President for Evidence Generation and Translation and Director of the AcademyHealth Center on Diversity, Inclusion, and Minority Engagement. Her areas of expertise include workforce diversity, consumer and public health informatics, telehealth, health equity, and multi-stakeholder engagement. She oversees the AcademyHealth diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility portfolio and currently serves as the PI/Director of the Coordinating Center for the VA HSR&D Learning Health Systems Fellowship Program, a 14-site fellowship program focused on the AHRQ core competencies for health services and policy research. She also serves on national advisory groups on topics related to telehealth, patient access to health information, and value-based care. Previously, she was PI for a PCORI engagement award on shared decision-making using person-generated digital health data. Her co-edited textbook entitled Consumer Informatics and Digital Health by Springer (2019) includes her opening chapter on Promoting Consumer Engagement in Health and Health Care and co-authored chapters on human-centered design, data analytics, community health, open science, and technology trends. 

Dr. Edmunds began her healthcare career as a Research and Clinical Fellow in medical psychology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She was a member of the affiliate clinical staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she provided team-based clinical behavioral medicine services to individuals with chronic medical conditions and served as a patient navigator. As an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, she taught health policy analysis and health communications for several years at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She previously held senior positions at the National Academy of Medicine (Institute of Medicine); University of California, San Francisco; Children’s Defense Fund; and Booz Allen Hamilton. She is an Associate Editor of Applied Clinical Informatics and a reviewer for ACI Open, JAMIA, JAMIA Open, Health Affairs, Learning Health Systems, The Permanente Journal, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the US Department of Health and Human Services.
